9-10 July.....Carribbean bliss in Taganga

Lynne...

After six days of jungle we were in need of some serious rest and recouperation and Taganga, a fishing village around twenty minues away by collectivo, was perfect. Along with Garrett (mad lad from Ireland) and the lovely James from Bristol we checked into a two bedroom apartment complete with kitchenette, fridge for beer and great views over the carribbean sea. Bliss.

After a long shower (the water was cold as opposed to ice cold and it was heavenly) we had dinner with some of the people we'd met on the trek. The carribbean atmosphere was magical and the long, leisurely evening turned into an impromptu party back at our apartment that lasted into the early hours. Far below us the sea twinkled in the moonlight.

Despite the late night I was up early and headed down to the beach for a swim. We enquired about learning to dive (Colombia is one of the cheapest diving centres in the world) and spent the rest of the day lounging around, sipping fresh fruit shakes and taking the occasional dip in the warm sea. I only wished we had more time to spend here but I was very conscious of making the most of our remaining few weeks and we still needed to cross the contintent to catch our return flight from Buenos Aires. One full day in Taganga simply wasn't enough but we plan to return in a few days time to learn to dive before making the long trek back overland to Argentina.
